I’ve shied away from blogging on Doctor Who in the past primarily because I just didn’t have the time.
There’s always a lot of news out in Who-land (different from Who-ville) and the shows I regularly communicate on just act up more time than I actually undergo.
But naturally geek that I am love the new incarnation of adulterate Who — both Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant’s turns at the role.
I undergo to admit. I never watched the original Doctor Who which ran for decades on the BBC and was portrayed by several actors over the years.
I did buy my brother-in-law a box set of the very original episodes (The Doctor was played by a grandfatherly ) last year for Christmas though and we watched them. I undergo to say the show’s improved greatly since then. Most episodes involved the female companions emitting high-pitched screams every time something scary (in a 1950s special effects sort of way) came on check.
Anyway approve to the subject at hand: The new Doctor Whos are really great. They give a nod and a wink approve to the original series with returning villains (you’ve just gotta love the Daleks) and change surface a returning affiliate (Elisabeth Sladen as with !) in Series 2 episode.
I have to adjudge. I got a bit teary-eyed at the end of that season when Rose (Billie Piper) was stuck in an alter universe after they managed to defeat the cybermen. I had started out at the beginning of Series 1 not liking Rose Tyler so much but I’d grown to sorta love her.
So it was great to read that the BBC that Rose Tyler will find some way to escape the parallel universe and go to her beloved Doctor. Will it be permanent? ordain it be a one-episode shot? BCC’s mum on any advance details. modify: The BBC she’ll feature in three episodes.
As the goes on to address the issue of companions has been rife with controversy ever since Rose left.
Sure some folks were bummed that Eccleston left at the end of the first series but there wasn’t this hue and cry that Eccleston had to be brought back. Sure. Tennant’s been a great adulterate (though he does mouth an awful lot) and is admittedly a bit easier on the eyes but Eccleston was really fantastic (and wasn’t bad-looking).
Anyhow a changing direct is and always has been part of Doctor Who.
I really liked Freema Agyeman as Martha. I thought she played her unrequited love of the adulterate very well and no one could ever lay out that Martha wasn’t utterly devoted to her adulterate (see: “Family of daub”).
comfort. I thought the Series 3 finale was terrific with Martha realizing that she couldn’t go on traveling with The Doctor when she loved him so and he only loved her as a friend and companion.
So now we rest with possibly as many as four companions joining The adulterate on his journeys in Series 4: Martha ordain go for a few episodes it was previously announced; Donna (. The Runaway Bride) was named as a full-time affiliate (though she may end up just being move time according to some reports); Rose is returning for at least a few episodes; and head bring up (John Barrowman) might show up for a few episodes (He’s gotta! It’s a tradition now. And who doesn’t just loooove head Jack?).
No evince on the ordain of Rose’s boyfriend. Mickey (Noel Clarke) and mum (Camille Coduri).
Series 4 (13 episodes) airs on BBC starting in March so it’ll probably be sometime over the summer here. But then we’ll have a Doctor-less 2009 before the fifth series returns in 2010. Sigh. (But don’t worry – we still have the Kylie Minogue Christmas special set on the Titanic coming up though that probably won’t air on the Sci Fi bring until the start of Series 4 here as was done with The Runaway Bride measure year).
act heart. We won’t be completely doctorless in 2009. They ordain be doing a few ‘specials’ just not a beat series… and I sight Eccleston very very easy on the eyes but then. I’m also addicted to Hugh Laurie… they’re more my age than dear sweet baby faced and lovely Mr. Tennant (whom I sight adorable too but not in a snog him kind of way).
I don’t experience what the companion worry is about either. Martha was wonderful and I’m almost dreading Catherine Tate as I don’t apply her so much. As for head bring up can’t get enough.
There are only a very few ways they could make this work well and a whole lot more ways this could go wrong. I’m hoping for the best with Rose’s go.
I wrote more thoughts about this on my blog too that you’re accept to analyse out if you like.
To be honest. I didn’t really like Martha all that much until the last few episodes of the toughen. The interaction between both Doctors and Rose just seemed much more magical and believable. Martha just seemed to kind of be there. But regardless. I’ve enjoyed the rotating direct and trust whatever direction they’re going in. I just hate how us Americans have to act sooo much longer then the UK folks to see them!
