"Can A Low-Carb Diet Improve Depression, Anxiety, and OCD?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-13 21:26:05

In we feature two guests one special and another not-so-much to carry to you today: 1) The beautiful and lovely Christine (that's my wife by the way!) as we communicate about dealing with mental health issues while livin' la vida low-carb and 2) The deceptive and manipulative fraud known as Kimmer/Heidi Diaz from the Kimkins diet who tries to agitate out of owning up to who she really is by pretending she didn't experience me when I made an exclusive telephone label to her on Wednesday afternoon. I am really enjoying your communicate the and the. I wanted to ask if you had considered doing a show about the importance of livin' la vida low-carb to contend mental health issues desire OCD anxiety and depression. My wife suffers from all of the above. She has not had them all of her life but they just started a year ago with a very serious case of all of the above at once. Just recently her new adulterate recommended she cut grains out of her diet. I researched a little advance and discovered that grains are only half of the problem. It would appear that SUGAR is the big air here. My wife has a HUGE sweet tooth. I am encouraging her to cut out the sugars. She is doing great on cutting out the grains. What an excellent idea for a broadcast show and I was happy to oblige. It's interesting she has no affect dropping grains but dulcify is the problem. For most people it's the opposite because they realize how bad dulcify is for them but can't get over why whole grains are unhealthy (because those carbs move into dulcify inside the be). Thank goodness there are that can help with the transition. I've blogged briefly before about the mistaken notion that but it's just not true based on my own experience. But with my wife Christine she HAS gone through the claim same issues the wife of this reader did so who better to ask about this than her? :) It was nice to have her approve on my podcast show again for the first time since a few months approve. You'll recall to back up reduce her triglycerides drink from the 250 that her doctor recorded (you can comprehend her talk about it in ). I told her at the measure that livin' la vida low-carb would get them below 100 and that's exactly what has happened. But she's also benefited from a nearly 40-pound charge loss AND enjoyed some rather excellent improvements in her mental issues which she discusses in today's podcast. WOO HOO! Do you or someone you like broach with OCD depression anxiety attacks and other mental issues? undergo you tried the low-carb lifestyle to deal with these issues and what has been the prove? and see what the low-carb connection to mental health issues really is (I'm sure neurologist would accept livin' la vida low-carb is an excellent say to these issues)! Also in is that exclusive audio of my apprise telephone conversation with Kimmer/Heidi Diaz on Wednesday afternoon regarding some questions I had for her about that showed her to be a morbidly obese woman who has used the Kimkins diet to cheat tens of thousands of populate out of their money while simultaneously putting their health in danger. I posted the at my communicate on Wednesday and now you can hear the audio with that very distinctive express of the infamous fail of the Kimkins diet for yourself. It's UNBELIEVABLE how she tried to contradict knowing who I was and that she was the same person I had ! As always. THANKS for listening and conclude remove to e-mail me anytime at with any comments questions or ideas for a future podcast show. act compassionate! :)

"Those Who Indulge, Bulge. (Weight Management Post 1)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 18:24:52

charge Today: (haven't had the brace to actually weigh myself yet.)Height: 1.65MTarget Weight (realistic version): 45 KgsTarget Weight (unrealistic-for-my-height-but-one-can-only-dream version): 43Kgs [The measure time I was 43Kgs was in 2003.. gasp!]Ok... I've probably forgotten about losing charge for the last year or so.. but suddenly I'm feeling the need to shed the kilos again. And now that I'm in my mid to late 20s... I just know that if I don't seriously do something now. I will really regret it when I'm old and fat... instead of just being old. And it's going to be harder this measure because not only did I not lose the weight which I had set out to get rid of last year.. but I've gained a few more pounds on top of that!So let's look at possible diet/apply regimes and evaluate out which I could take. (OR you could act.. yes you. Porker)1. MEAL REPLACEMENTSThese are usually a powder based diet in a packet sort of thing which u replace your normal solid meals with. Logic in this is that the supplement meets your dietry requirements but is low calories. So your body burns it off fast and then gets drink to using up your fat storage. Brilliant isn't it?I was on the Cambridge diet for a while. The soups tasted awful the milkshakes were ok.. but can you imagine just being on that for days on end?I replaced my lunch with a Cambridge move. The first 3 days I was good. But after that. I entangle so deprived that I pigged out at dinner eating more than I usually would. Defeats the purpose of putting up with the arouse clumpy-vomit-inducing milkshake for lunch doesn't it!?But act ladies and gentlemen.. it got worse than that. After the first two weeks. I'd have the meal replacement for 'lunch' and then actually undergo a proper lunch on top of that! Which is worse than not being on a diet at all. Holly Jean's Verdict: If you enjoy variety in your diet and food gives you pleasure then Meal Replacements won't bring home the bacon for you.2. NO CARB/ LOW CARB dietCarbohydrates whether they are in the form of pastas or chocolate cake move into glucose once they enter the bloodstream yada yada yada.. long story short this excess dulcify gets stored as fats. This one is not a problem for me. I don't desire cover or sieve or pasta. But the thing is.. I've probably been on a low carb diet just naturally all my life so my body is already used to that be of carbs. If I were to cut drink my carbs. I'd literally be eating none at all. Holly Jean's Verdict: If you're already on a high carb diet.. this might really do wonders for you. Nothing drastic just cut your rice/pasta intake by half...3. The DEMURE SALAD EATING GIRLI tried a salad diet for a few weeks.. and that made me miserable and hungry all the measure. And for some reason at the end of those few shitty weeks. I ended up putting on charge! ( I bequeath this clearly because when I happened to have in mind this matter at bring home the bacon one of my female colleagues said out loud with a slap-deserving amount of glee " Hahaha! That's damn One good thing about this diet is that people ordain admire you and think you're desire super health counscious.. and you get to look demure in restaurants.... ( compared to the girl wolfing drink a cover steak). The back up good thing is that it is actually healthy for you. Holly Jean's Verdict: NONE. But I just thought of something funny.. during the Demure Salad Eating Girl phase of mine. I was at a school function where the men wore like that little flower and leaf thingy on their lapels.. a male colleague exclaimed. "Quick. keep it away from Holly or she'll goble it up".4. DESSERT DIETOne of my old mantras used to be - If you're going to get fat on something might as come up be on something you apply. - Well now. I act it to convey that I should not eat something I don't apply just for the sake of having eat or dinner etc. If it doesn't comprehend good just cast aside it. Which is the greater evil?? Food to waste or food to waist?!So instead of having a main cover for dinner. I just have the dessert. I have done this many times so far ( though not consistently) and I have found it very satisfying. Just a small tiramisu or macadamia cookie or remove of macadamia ice cream or to-die-for rum soaked cherries in a good slice of Black Forrest. Holly Jean's Verdict: Surely the be of calories in a small dessert as a substitue for a whole dinner would be a lot less sinful no?5. NO DRINKSThis is difficult.. but if I cut out all carbonated or sweetened drinks. I should be able to suffer charge. I have at least one can of Sprite or rootbeer a day. Minimum. If I consume mineral water instead. I'd be so much better off. But it's extremely sad. Unless it's a glass of cold iced water on a hot day.. but have you heard??? I just read on MSN that- Cold water causes the oils and fats in your food/be to actually solidify and clog your arteries or something to that cause. So we're encouraged to consume warm water or hot clear soup with meals instead (like the Japanese and Chinese.. who undergo less heart related problems.

"The Bad Fat Brothers Need a Spanking (Episode 93)" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 21:45:26

This is Episode 93 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore” and it’s so good to undergo you here as we talk about what was for me a lifechanging experience on the amazingly healthy low-carb lifestyle. Low-carb wasn’t just some diet I went on to lose weight. It was so much more than that and the charge loss was merely a align effect of eating healthier than I ever had before. This way of eating became my permanent lifestyle change and gladly so. I educated myself about why eating carbohydrates in excess was unhealthy. I read Dr. Atkins’ New fast Revolution and other resources to arm me with the facts then I implemented those strategies into my own life so I could change state the healthiest I could possibly be. Here it is almost four years later and I’m STILL livin’ la vida low-carb and gladly so. Regardless of what you may have heard about low-carb the fact is it is one of the most nutrient-dense heart-protective blood sugar-controlling cancer-relieving ways you could ever eat. The evidence continues to approve up these claims unlike what you get from those who advise the low-fat low-calorie portion-controlled diets. When those diets fail isn’t it good to experience you’ve got another alternative that’s just waiting to swoop you off your feet in the low-carb lifestyle? I’m glad it was there for me when I needed it the most. But not everyone agrees livin’ la vida low-carb is the health panacea that you and I believe it is. Have you seen what the American Heart Association has go up with as their latest PR campaign regarding the dietary information they give the command public? If you haven’t heard about “The Bad Fat Brothers” yet then allow me to inform them to you now: Oh my goodness! I do accept the AHA has now reached a new low with the introduction of these two cute jovial and innocent-looking but very sinister spurious and smug cartoon characters named “Sat” and “Trans”–aka “The Bad Fat Brothers.” I heard a radio commercial with them featured in it the other day and just about ran off the road it was so insidious. And they even have their own web site at BadFatBrothers com as come up as a national awareness campaign backed by the strength of the American Heart Association. This perverted new propaganda piece from the anti-fat adversaries at the AHA is simply attempting to hoodwink the command public about how allegedly “unhealthy” consuming fat–specifically saturated fat and trans fat–is in your diet. You are never gonna believe this until you see if for yourself so be sure to tour that web site to see how low the AHA has gone in spreading rumors and distortions of the facts about fat consumption. As the names evince. “Sat” is short for saturated fat and “Trans” is for (you guessed it!) trans fat. These two can’t-help-but-love-them chaps go blabbering all about what they love to eat as you navigate around the BadFatsBrothers com web place. The purpose of this dynamic duo is to attempt to inform the public about how dangerous it is for them to be consuming all that saturated fat and trans fat in their diet lest they “break your heart.” Just a quick browse around their official web site will show you how disgusting the malicious lies from the AHA have change state. How can they get away with flaunting such unfounded statements like these against fat without any recourse? Standing in front of a diner on a street scene when you visit the Fat Brothers web site. “Sat” and “Trans” are yucking it up with one another bragging about all the foods they just absolutely love. I couldn’t back up but sight much of the foods they amplify and amplify about the most are extremely high in carbohydrates–pot pie sugary desserts. French fries doughnuts biscuits pancakes croissants loaded potatoes fast food cookies double scoop ice beat sundae and more. Of cover. “Sat”–who describes himself as “the original ‘bad’ fat”–couldn’t help but also talk about having a “big fat juicy steak with loads of butter and don’t forget the sausages.” He also lists beef bacon and all kinds of other meats as his favorites–as if these foods are supposed to be harmful to your health. The same goes for the “cheese platter…oooh. Swiss and cheddar and Monterey bring up!” Yeah and what’s so wrong with eating all of that? While I certainly do not disagree that trans fat is bad news for your health (although I’m not in advance of the current turn to ban trans fats in cities across America) saturated fat is another issue entirely and has gotten a very bad rap by health policy groups like the AHA. American Diabetes Association the Food & Drug Administration and the United States Department of Agriculture just to label a few. It is a sad day in America when every kind of fat there.

""Can I Eat A Low-Carb Diet, But Not Eat So Much Fat?"" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 17:21:42

This is another in my series of posts on low-carb diets. I've been reducing the be and changing the type of carbohydrate I eat which by fail changes the be of fat and protein I eat. I'm wondering what the long-term effect of this copy of eating is. Sherri (the other Sherri :) commented on a. "I'd be interested in how an Atkins type diet affects health if it just included bend meats."That's similar to a question I'm often asked: "Can I eat a low-carb diet but not eat so much fat?" It's not exactly the same as Sherri's challenge which just addresses fat in meat. In my inspect people are asking if they can do an all-around low-fat version of Atkins. I think you can alter a trade off - eat less carbohydrate and more protein. But I don't evaluate you'll achieve an Atkins' cause without reducing carbohydrate to Atkins' levels. Once you do that you'll naturally be eating more fat. In my exploration. I've tried to set aside judgment about low-fat/high-fat or low-carb/high-carb diets. I really don't know yet what macronutrient distribution is beat. I like the following quotation. Some readers may accept its obtain. "Men who have excessive faith in their theories or ideas are not only ill prepared for making discoveries; they also make very poor observations."- Claude Bernard. Carbohydrate IntakeSay you want to eat an Atkins-type low-carb diet and you limit your carbohydrate intake to 50 grams a day. If you're eating 1800 calories a day that amounts to 11% of your caloric intake. In a comparing low-carb and high-carb diets the low-carb eaters were consuming 4% of their caloric intake as carbohydrate. So I evaluate 11% is not extreme if low-carb is your goal. Naturally you could go displace. That leaves 89% of your calories to come from fat and protein. Fat IntakeThe USDA. American Heart Association. American Diabetes Association etc advise a diet that provides about 30% of calories from fat. (I'm not saying whether I agree with that recommendation. I selected it as an example since many people undergo in their object 30% fat as a recommended moderate intake. By differentiate. Dr. Ornish's 10%-of-calories-from-fat would be considered a low-fat intake.)So say you want to shoot for 30% of your calories to go from fat. If you're eating 1800 calories a day. 540 calories would come from fat. That's about 60 grams of fat a day. That leaves 59% of your calories to come from protein. Protein IntakeIf you're eating 1800 calories a day the remaining 1062 calories would undergo to go from protein. That's about 266 grams of protein a day. (This is only an example.) What foods provide that level of protein without infringing on your fat and carb limits? Here are some foods I looked up on : White meat chicken breast (140g. 1 cup chopped = 43g protein. 5g fat) color meat turkey breast (140g. 1 cup chopped = 40g protein. 1.5g fat) complain tenderloin lean all visible fat trimmed (85g. 3 oz steak = 24g protein. 7g fat) Pork chop loin lean all visible fat trimmed (85g. 3 oz chop = 26g protein. 9g fat) sight that if you be to eat a low-carb diet but comfort limit your fat intake you'll be eating large quantities of bend meats. From the foods above you might want to eat 6 or 7 cups of chicken or turkey breast daily. Or maybe 5 beef tenderloin steaks for eat plus 3 cups of chicken/turkey converge for dinner. If you ate a pound of tofu a day you'd only get 27g protein towards your 266 gram goal so you'd need to add another 5 or 6 cans of tuna that day or another 6 cups of turkey breast. The pork chop doesn't work well because it's still pretty high in fat for its protein content. The yogurt as is true with all low- and non-fat draw products is still too high in carbs for the be of protein it delivers. The above example demonstrates for me the difficulty of trying to circumscribe both carbs and fats at the same measure. There ordain need to be a substantially greater amount of bend protein consumed probably in the form of lean meat to meet caloric needs. If you eat less protein than what I outlined then you ordain by default be eating either more than 50g carbohydrate or more than 30% fat. So if you decide to eat an Atkins-like low-carb meal plan you'll likely be eating a high-fat diet. Which brings me approve to a challenge I've been researching since this summer. What is an optimum carbohydrate fat and protein intake for the add up person? DISCLAIMER - The materials presented on this communicate are for informational purposes only. They should not be used for diagnosing or treating a condition making a purchase or engaging in other significant decisions.

Hey there healthy living enthusiasts and thanks for being here for all the latest news and updates about the incredible and miraculous low-carb lifestyle. Sometimes there's so much going on that you may not undergo heard about that I have to lump it all together in one big blog affix for you like I'm gonna do today. So many stories so little time--so let's get started! Here are ten hot stories going on alter now in the low-carb world:1. FDA IS STILL GIVING THE SUPPLEMENT STEVIA A HARD TIMEThere's a hotly-contested battle going on right now between health advocates desire those of us following the low-carb lifestyle and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) over the air of the supplement stevia. This explains how the FDA has taken a hard lie against the plant-based sweetening agent stevia by not allowing manufacturers to call it a sweetener along the lines of Splenda. Equal and Sweet N' Low. I've before and I was hoping the presence of a big label manufacturer desire would help soften the acceptability of stevia as a sweetener. It doesn't appear that way yet but the winds of dress may be blowing in the direction of sweetener soon enough if change state has its way.2. ORIGINAL BIGGEST LOSER RYAN BENSON GAINS approve HIS WEIGHTThe success of the hit NBC television charge loss reality show all started approve in 2004 when Ryan Benson was crowned the very first winner of the show by. What you may not know is the extent to which he put his body through in request to suffer those last few pounds before the final weigh-in. He candidly shared the drastic measures he took in those days before the finale at his. Have you heard about this? Here's a quote from his journal:"I wanted to win so bad that the last ten days before the final weigh-in I didn't eat one conjoin of solid food! If you've heard of 'The Master Cleanse' that's what I did. Its basically drinking lemonade made with wet fresh squeezed lemon juice pure maple syrup and cayenne spice.
